Cloud flexibility, without sharing
Public cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure are powerful, but they’re not the right fit for every workload. Some organisations need strict isolation, single-tenant hardware, predictable long-term costs, control over where and how data is stored, or compatibility with legacy applications and licensing. Others simply run steady workloads that don’t benefit from the pay-as-you-go model.
A private cloud gives you cloud-style capabilities, such as virtual machines on demand, self-service, automation, high availability and scalability, on infrastructure dedicated to your organisation alone. It can be hosted in a professional UAE hosting facility, in your own server room, or delivered as a managed service.
Many organisations combine private cloud with public cloud in a hybrid model: sensitive or steady workloads stay private, while variable or modern cloud-native workloads use public cloud. ITConnect designs, builds and manages private and hybrid cloud environments, so you get the right home for every workload.

What is private cloud?
A private cloud is a cloud computing environment dedicated to a single organisation. It provides the main characteristics of cloud computing, including pooled resources, virtualization, on-demand provisioning and scalability, but the underlying infrastructure isn’t shared with other customers. A private cloud can be hosted on-premises, in a third-party facility, or delivered by a provider as a managed service.
Private cloud vs public cloud
| Public cloud | Private cloud | |
|---|---|---|
| Infrastructure | Shared, multi-tenant | Dedicated, single-tenant |
| Scalability | Virtually unlimited, instant | Scales within planned capacity |
| Control | Provider controls the platform | You (or your provider) control the platform |
| Customisation | Standardised services | Highly customisable |
| Cost model | Pay-as-you-go | Predictable, capacity-based |
| Best for | Variable workloads, modern apps, global reach | Steady workloads, strict isolation, legacy apps |
What is hybrid cloud?
A hybrid cloud combines private infrastructure, whether on-premises or private cloud, with public cloud services, connected so data and applications can work across both. For example, a company might keep its ERP database and sensitive records in a UAE private cloud, run websites and development environments in Azure, use Microsoft 365 for email, and back up everything to cloud storage. Hybrid lets you place each workload where it fits best.

Not sure which hosting fits?
Tell us what you run and who uses it. We’ll recommend the right option for each workload.
Is private cloud right for you?
Private cloud is a strong choice when workloads are steady and predictable, so you don’t benefit much from pay-as-you-go flexibility; when regulation, contracts or policy require single-tenant infrastructure or specific data locations; when applications depend on particular hardware, legacy operating systems or licensing; when you run enough virtual machines that dedicated capacity is efficient; or when you want full control over the platform and change schedule. If your workloads are variable, cloud-native or global, public cloud may suit better, and we’ll tell you so.
Designing for resilience
A private cloud should be resilient by design. We use clusters of hosts so workloads move automatically if one fails, redundant storage and networking, uninterruptible power in professional facilities, and replication to a secondary site or public cloud for disaster recovery. Backups are kept separately and tested. Capacity is monitored so the platform never runs short of resources.
Security and isolation
Single-tenant infrastructure reduces exposure to other customers, but strong security still depends on configuration. We segment networks, restrict administrative access with MFA, encrypt data, patch hypervisors and hosts, monitor logs, and integrate with your security tools or our SOC.
Who uses private cloud
Healthcare and government-related organisations, financial services, logistics and port operators, larger enterprises running many virtual machines, and companies modernising ageing on-premise server rooms without moving everything to public cloud.
Modernising an on-premise server room
Many organisations come to us with ageing servers in their own office. Rather than replacing hardware like-for-like, a managed private cloud in a professional hosting facility removes the burden of cooling, power, physical security and hardware lifecycle, while keeping workloads dedicated and under your control. It’s often the first step toward a broader hybrid strategy.
Common hybrid cloud patterns
Private core, public edge
Core databases and ERP stay in private cloud; websites and customer apps run in public cloud.
Cloud disaster recovery
Private cloud workloads replicate to Azure or AWS, so they can be started in the cloud if the primary site fails.
Burst to public cloud
Extra capacity in public cloud for peak periods or projects.
Modern apps in public cloud
New cloud-native applications use public platform services while legacy systems stay private.
SaaS for productivity
Email and collaboration in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, connected to private systems through single sign-on.
Management and visibility
Running private and public clouds together can become complex. We provide unified monitoring, consistent security policies, centralised backup and clear documentation across environments, so your team sees one picture rather than separate silos.
Capacity planning
Unlike public cloud, private cloud capacity is planned in advance. We monitor CPU, memory and storage trends, forecast growth with you, and add capacity before it’s needed, so performance stays consistent and there are no surprises.
Choosing a private cloud provider
Ask where the infrastructure is hosted and how the facility is certified, which virtualization platform is used and why, how high availability and disaster recovery work, who manages patching and security, how capacity is planned, and how you can exit if needed. Insist on clear documentation and access to your own data and virtual machines at all times.
Case study
A UAE logistics group replaced ageing on-premise servers with a managed private cloud hosted in Dubai, replicated to Azure for disaster recovery, so critical systems can now be recovered quickly.
Private Cloud questions, answered
What is private cloud?
A cloud environment dedicated to one organisation, providing cloud capabilities on single-tenant infrastructure.
What's the difference between private and public cloud?
Public cloud shares infrastructure among many customers; private cloud is dedicated to one organisation.
What is hybrid cloud?
A combination of private infrastructure and public cloud, connected so workloads can run across both.
Can private cloud be hosted in the UAE?
Yes, in the UAE or in your own facility.
Is private cloud more secure than public cloud?
It offers more isolation and control, but security depends on design and management in both cases.
Can we connect our private cloud to Azure or AWS?
Yes, through secure VPN or dedicated connections.
Who manages the private cloud?
We can fully manage it, or co-manage with your IT team.
How long does building a private cloud take?
Typically several weeks from design to migration, depending on hardware availability and workload numbers.
Can we keep using our existing VMware licences?
Possibly, depending on licensing terms; we review this during design.
Can we start small and grow?
Yes. Private clouds can start with a small cluster and add hosts and storage as workloads grow.
Do we keep control of our virtual machines?
Yes. You can have administrative access to your workloads, with responsibilities clearly agreed.
Can private cloud host Windows and Linux?
Yes, both, including databases and line-of-business applications.
Is support available 24/7?
Monitoring runs 24/7, with critical incidents handled according to your service level.
