Most attacks start with a person, not a computer
Firewalls, EDR and email filters stop most attacks, but not all. Attackers know that the quickest way in is often through people: a convincing email asking for a password, a phone call pretending to be IT support, a fake invoice that looks exactly like a supplier’s, a USB drive left in the car park. Industry studies consistently find that the human element is involved in a large share of breaches.
The good news is that people can learn to spot and stop these attacks. Staff who know the warning signs, feel confident reporting suspicious messages, and understand why security rules exist become a powerful defence. The bad news is that a once-a-year presentation doesn’t achieve this. Awareness fades within weeks, and boring compliance videos are skipped.
ITConnect runs security awareness programmes that work: short, relevant training delivered regularly, realistic phishing simulations, targeted coaching for people who need it, and clear reports for management. We tailor content to UAE threats and to the roles in your organisation, from finance teams targeted by invoice fraud to executives targeted by impersonation.

What is cyber security awareness?
Cyber security awareness is the knowledge and everyday behaviour that help people recognise and avoid cyber threats. It includes knowing what phishing looks like, using strong passwords and MFA, handling sensitive data carefully, keeping devices updated, and reporting anything suspicious quickly. Awareness isn’t about turning everyone into security experts; it’s about building habits that make attacks fail.
What is security awareness training?
Security awareness training is a structured programme that teaches employees about cyber threats and safe practices, and measures whether behaviour improves. Modern programmes combine short, regular lessons with phishing simulations and reporting, because measuring real behaviour matters more than counting attendance.
Topics we cover
| Topic | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Phishing and email scams | The most common attack method |
| Business email compromise and invoice fraud | High-value fraud targeting finance |
| Passwords and MFA | Stolen credentials are a top cause of breaches |
| Social engineering by phone and messaging | Attackers impersonate IT, banks and executives |
| Safe use of AI tools | Avoid pasting confidential data into public tools |
| Data protection | Handling personal and confidential data correctly |
| Remote and mobile working | Public Wi-Fi, lost devices, home networks |
| Reporting incidents | Fast reporting limits damage |
How phishing simulation works
We send realistic but safe phishing emails to staff, designed like real attacks: fake document shares, delivery notifications, password expiry warnings and supplier invoices. We measure who opens, clicks, enters credentials and, most importantly, who reports them. Difficulty increases over time. Results are used for learning, not punishment: people who click get immediate, friendly guidance, and departments with higher risk get extra support.

Measuring success
We track click rate, credential-submission rate, report rate, time to report and training completion. A falling click rate and rising report rate show that the culture is changing. These metrics also provide evidence for ISO 27001, the UAE IA Standards, ADHICS and insurers.
Why culture matters more than rules
People who fear punishment hide mistakes, and hidden mistakes become serious incidents. A positive security culture encourages staff to report suspicious emails and errors quickly, celebrates good catches, and treats clicks as learning opportunities. Leaders set the tone by completing training themselves and talking about security openly. We help you communicate the programme, recognise champions in each department, and keep messages short, practical and relevant to daily work.
Training for high-risk roles
Finance and accounts: invoice fraud, payment change verification, executive impersonation. HR: fake job applicants carrying malware, data protection for employee records, payroll diversion scams. Executives and assistants: whaling, travel-related scams and public information used for targeting. IT administrators: privileged account security, phishing for admin credentials, safe remote support. Front desk and customer service: phone-based social engineering and identity verification.
Who needs awareness training
Every organisation with email. It’s particularly important for businesses that handle payments, personal data or confidential information, and it’s required or expected by ISO 27001, the UAE IA Standards, ADHICS, many client contracts and cyber insurers.
Security induction for new joiners
New staff are often targeted quickly, because attackers know they’re unfamiliar with internal processes. A short security induction in the first week covers company policies, how to report incidents, MFA setup, safe use of devices and how to spot common scams. We provide the content and track completion automatically.
Making training engaging
We keep lessons short, use real examples from UAE attacks, include quizzes and scenarios, and vary formats between video, interactive modules and live sessions. Content is updated regularly as attackers change tactics, so staff see current threats rather than outdated examples.
Reporting for management
Quarterly reports show phishing results by department, training completion, trends over time and recommended actions, in a format suitable for management meetings and audit evidence.
Case study
A logistics company ran monthly awareness modules and phishing simulations. Fewer staff now click on phishing emails, and more of them report suspicious messages.
Security Awareness Training questions, answered
What is cyber security awareness?
The knowledge and habits that help people recognise and avoid cyber threats and report incidents.
What is security awareness training?
A programme of short lessons, phishing simulations and reporting that builds safer behaviour across the organisation.
Is phishing simulation legal and ethical?
Yes, when done with management approval, clear policies and a learning-focused approach. We don’t collect real passwords.
How long does training take for staff?
Usually five to ten minutes a month, plus occasional live sessions.
Can you train our management team separately?
Yes, with board and executive sessions on cyber risk, fraud and decision-making during incidents.
Do you provide training certificates and records?
Yes. Completion records and reports are available for audits and insurers.
Can you run classroom training in Dubai?
Yes, on site at your office or online.
What happens if someone keeps clicking?
They receive extra, supportive coaching. Repeat clicks usually fall quickly once people understand the patterns.
Can training cover AI tools?
Yes, including safe use of AI assistants and risks of sharing confidential data.
Do you run vishing or SMS phishing tests?
Yes, where agreed with management, we can include phone and SMS scenarios.
Can staff complete training on mobile?
Yes. Modules work on phones, tablets and computers.
How do you keep phishing simulations safe?
Simulated emails come from controlled systems, never collect real passwords, and are approved in advance with your IT team so they’re allowed through filters.
Can we see individual results?
Yes, with access limited to authorised managers. Many organisations share only department-level results widely.
Do you offer a free phishing test?
Yes, a one-off baseline test is available to show your current risk level.
How quickly can a programme start?
Usually within one to two weeks, after setup with your email platform and agreement on the first campaign.
Does training help with cyber insurance?
Yes. Many insurers ask about training and phishing tests, and our records provide the evidence.
