Servers and storage, sized for how you actually work

Buying a server is easy. Buying the right one is harder. Many businesses in Dubai either overspend on a powerful server that sits mostly idle, or buy the cheapest option and hit performance limits within a year. Storage is the same: a NAS bought for file sharing fills up, and suddenly it also holds backups, CCTV footage and archives it was never sized for.

ITConnect starts with your workload, not a product catalogue. We measure how your current systems are used: how many users, which applications, how much data and how fast it grows. Then we recommend servers and storage that fit today with room for the next five years. We supply the hardware from leading brands, install and configure it securely, migrate your data, and connect it to a proper backup system. After installation we support it under warranty and through our IT AMC.

Whether you need a single tower server for a small office, shared storage for a design team, or a virtualization cluster for a growing company, we design it, deliver it and look after it.

What you get

Sizing and design

We measure CPU, memory, storage and network use, plus data growth, before recommending anything. You get a written recommendation explaining why.

Server supply

Rack and tower servers from Dell and HPE, configured to order with the right processors, memory, disks and support contracts.

NAS and SAN storage

Shared storage for files and backups (NAS), or high-performance block storage for virtualization and databases (SAN).

Installation and setup

Rack mounting, firmware updates, RAID configuration, operating system installation, roles such as Active Directory and file services, and security hardening.

Data migration

Files, user accounts, applications and databases moved from your old server with minimal downtime.

Backup integration

Local and offsite backup following the 3-2-1 rule, tested regularly.

Warranty and support

Vendor warranty registration and claims, plus ongoing support through an IT AMC.

What is a server?

A server is a powerful computer that provides services to other computers on a network. It might store shared files, host your accounting or ERP database, manage user logins, run email or applications, or record CCTV. Unlike a normal desktop, a server is built to run 24/7. It usually has redundant power supplies, error-correcting memory, multiple disks protected by RAID, and remote management so engineers can fix problems without being on site.

Servers come in three common forms. Tower servers look like large desktop computers and suit small offices without a rack. Rack servers mount in a network cabinet and suit server rooms. Blade and hyperconverged systems pack compute and storage densely for larger environments. Today, a single physical server often runs several virtual servers, which saves cost and space. See Virtualization

What is NAS storage?

NAS stands for Network Attached Storage. It is a dedicated storage device connected to your network that lets everyone save and share files in one place. A NAS contains several hard drives or SSDs, protected by RAID so a single disk failure doesn’t lose data. Modern NAS devices also offer user permissions, remote access, snapshots that protect against accidental deletion and ransomware, and built-in backup to the cloud.

A NAS is ideal for file sharing, backups and archives in small and mid-size businesses. A SAN (Storage Area Network) is different: it provides very fast block storage used by servers and virtualization clusters, typically for databases and virtual machines.

How we work

  1. Workload review

We measure usage and talk to your team about plans for growth.

  2. Recommendation and quote

Options with clear pros and cons, explained in plain English.

  3. Supply

We order the hardware and register warranties in your company’s name.

  4. Install and migrate

Configuration, testing and data migration in a planned window.

  5. Support

    Monitoring, updates and warranty handling.

Backup: the part most people get wrong

Every server and storage project we deliver includes a backup plan. We follow the 3-2-1 rule: three copies of your data, on two different types of storage, with one copy offsite or in the cloud. We add immutable or versioned backups that ransomware can’t delete, and we test restores regularly. A backup that has never been restored is only a hope.

Case study

A design firm replaced an overloaded file server with a NAS and cloud backup. Large project files now open much faster, and the firm can restore any deleted file within minutes.

Servers & Storage questions, answered

What is a server?

A powerful computer that provides services to other computers on a network, such as shared files, email, applications or user logins. It’s built to run 24/7 with redundant components.

What is NAS storage?

Network Attached Storage: a storage device on your network that lets everyone save and share files in one place, often used for backups as well.

Are you server suppliers in Dubai?

Yes. We supply and install Dell and HPE servers and storage, with warranty registration and support.

How long does server installation take?

Usually one to three days for setup, plus migration time depending on how much data you have.

How long does a server last?

Typically five to seven years. After the vendor warranty ends, repairs get slower and more expensive, so we plan replacements in advance.

Should we buy a server or use the cloud?

If your applications need fast local access, or data must stay on site, a server makes sense. If your team works remotely and your apps are cloud-based, the cloud may be cheaper. We compare both honestly.

Do you buy back or dispose of old servers?

We securely wipe old drives and arrange certified disposal or recycling. See IT Asset Management

Can you supply servers quickly?

Common configurations are often available from local stock within days. Custom configurations typically take one to three weeks depending on the distributor.

Can you help us choose between a NAS and a server?

Yes. If you mainly need shared files and backups, a NAS is often enough. If you run applications, databases or user logins, a server is needed. We assess your workload and explain the choice.

Do you set up remote access to files?

Yes, securely through VPN, zero-trust access or synchronised cloud storage, without exposing your server or NAS to the internet.
